I was told that both needed to be replaced at the same time due to lengthy labor times. I took the car into AAMCO last month because the coolant light was coming on at least once a week. they checked the car. said water pump needed to be replaced nearly 700 dollar charge.. Im outraged.. Is this accurate?
Thats not too bad for the water pump and timing belt. Timing belts for that car usually come in a kit which can get to be over a hundred dollars. The water pump is around 100 and the labor can be between 3.1 hours to 4.4 hours depending on which engine. Considering that shop labor rates average a hundred an hour, id say thats about an average to good price.
