What is your question?
My 2003 VW Beetle convertible top will not go down. The battery and alternator are new and VW service was unable to find a reason why the top will not retract. When they direct powered the motor, the top went down so it does work. The switch has been replaced and all fuses checked. Looking for suggestions or recommendations. Is this an electrical issue?
How long has your 2003 Volkswagen Beetle had this problem?
Since March, car is stored during winter months.

Hello, keep in mind that the operation of the convertible top depends on other factors beyond just providing direct power. Think about what the owners manual calls for before you can operate the top. The system requires seeing that the vehicle is not moving, for one thing. Probably the parking brake needs to be seen as engaged. And so forth. Having a workshop manual handy would be important to start performing hands on testing of the system. However, even being entirely sure of the steps required to open the top from the owners manual is a good first start.
