If the CV joint itself is not damaged removing the axle, cleaning inspecting and replacing the CV boot repair shops charge about 1 hour to 1.4 hours labor and between $25 to $35 for the boot kit.

JUST DID ONE ON A 1996 JETTA GOT THE COMPLETE AXLE WITH CV JOINT BOOT AN ALL 52.00$ AUTOZONE INSTALLD MYSELF DONE.......
