airbag light flashing, have put in new battery and starter, lights still coming on

2001 vw beetle turbo diesel, airbag light came on , stopped shut off motor, couldn't restart, got boosted ok, started driving within two miles, loss of interior lights and wipers, windows wouldn't work, loss of power, pulled over, could not get car to re-start, all dashboard lights went flashing, then nothing, tried re-boost with no luck. I have it at a garage and they have put in a new battery and starter the wire was fried, original, starts but lights still come on and it shuts down what else could be wrong?
