My oil dipstick has two bends in it-- did I insert it incorrectly?

When checking my oil the other day in my Toyota Yaris I noticed that there were two bends in my oil dipstick: one at the top and one near the add line. I guess I must have incorrectly(?) inserted the dipstick (I know, real stupid) when I last checked the oil. While I do remember pushing it firmly in so that it felt sealed, could I have done any damage to my car?
