2007 Tundra 5.7L with 6 speed tranny and tow package; 98,000 miles. Carfax indicates regular maintenance was done. When cold first thing in am, while going up the 1/4 mile hill outside my driveway, the Tundra accelerates to abaout 2000, shifts, and then this lurching starts as I go up the hill 25-30 mps..... 2 to 3 times per second, I feel the lurching and the tach goes back and forth between about 2200 and 2800 rpm. After the engine is warm this doesn't happen on this hill. It doesn't happen even later in the day if I have come back home and let the truck sit for several hours. Carfax shows regular maintenance was done on the vehicle: additional things: at 17,000: spark plugs, and differential flushed/changed; at 40000 engine/powertrain computer/moduile reporgrammed, PCM reprogrammed;at 52,000 a new water pump; I'm planning to have tranny flushed soon.

I'd be looking at spark plugs / coils. Why were spark plugs replaced at 17,000 miles anyway? That's way too early. I wonder what other things could be occurring, or have historically occurred. www.repairpal.com/repair-shops Also a diagnostic tool capable of performing a power balance or relative compression test would be helpful, as well as monitoring for diagnostic trouble codes and other issues.
