I would like to know why my truck will start 3-4 times in a row then nothing it

My wifes 2009 is doing the same thing. I am suspecting the neutral safety switch but need to research it further. Try shifting into different gears andthen back to either nuetral or park and then try to start it. I may be wrong but its worth a shot.
