Idles fine,takes a long time to go thru gears,won't to over 50mph.no pep

What is your question?

Starts & runs ,idles fine.When I put it in drive ,it takes longer than normal to get through the gears.It will not go over 50mph unless going downhill.It was making a vacuum cleaner like noise on start up, then normal. It has no get up & go power. It goes,but so slowly.

What makes this problem better or worse?
