What is your question?
My horn keeps going off by itself several hours after opening and closing my trunk. ( I am using my fob (remote) to open and close my car ) Would a faulty battery in the remote have anything to do with the horn going off by itself? I have a 2008 Toyota Scion XD. *****I do not have a Tercel I could not find a Scion on your drop down menu or the year 2008. Thank you,
What makes this problem better or worse?
It appears to happen when I open and close my trunk using my job/remote
How long has your 1998 Toyota Tercel had this problem?
About 6 or 8 months

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble with your Scion xD. If your horn is randomly going off hours after using your remote, it’s likely tied to the factory alarm system. The most common cause of this is a faulty hood or trunk latch sensor that’s telling the alarm system the car is being tampered with—even when it’s not. I wouldn't rule out a problem with the key fob, but it isn't as likely. Try replacing the fob battery first since it’s a quick and inexpensive fix. If that doesn’t solve it, try to look at the dash next time the alarm goes off. If the trunk, hood, or door ajar lights come on and none of them are open, that could point you in the right direction.
