do you have to relpace the a c compressor to replace the pulley componetD

Some a/c compressor designs do not allow for piece meal parts replacement. If is replacable seperately some shops will only replace whole component for liability concerns. Who is to say something has not been weakened at the compressor, they change only pulley, you have prob two days later and you are back on their doorstep wanting warranty.
