ran fuel near empty & raining out, got the p304 code & engine light flashing

Why is check engine light flashing also I believe engine code has a pdd after p304. Did I by running fuel tank almost empty cause issues? Also just checked a plug recently just to check & looked good. Could it be all the rain... Have a Vortec 5.7 ltr in a 2001 Silverado.coil packs are not covered. Thanks 4 your time..God Bless.
