At what mileage does the timing chain need to be replaced?

Older Toyota 22R engines used to have problems with timing chain guides and tensioners mostly on engines that did not have frequent oil changes. I have a Tacoma with 165,000 miles and have seen Tacoma engines with 200,000 miles with no timing chain noise. We work on a lot of Tacomas and I have not seen timing chain problems.
i have a 96 concord i dont know if the timming chain is bad or if its fuel injectorsit runs but rough two plugs are covered in gas 4 are real black what do you think

I have just come back from a Toyota garage where I was told the whole Timing kit (including the chain) needs to be replaced. The car is a Toyota Carolla saloon 2001 1.4 petrol with just 82,000 on the clock. The cost of the Timing kit including the labour is 800 euro. !
be safe. change it at 100,000 mine just stretched at 101k and bent the valves, gouged the head, and chipped two pistons.

It is correct Toyota have no interval for changing the timing chain and as I have said we work on lots of these keep the oil changed frequently and the chain gives no problems.
tacomas have belts not chains i have a 1994 toyota 22re the truck before the tacoma it has a 22re with a timing chain 160000k religiously change oil and filter and it is about to have the chain changed you can here the noise of the loose chain on start up this is because after 1984 toyota went to plastic chain guides which wear and disintigrate this can happen anytime after 100000k so listen for it on cold startup warm up will quiet this sound if you do the chain go to metal backed chain guides or the LCE chain conversion kit which will take you back to the pre 84 setup.
what if in my case the noise get louder after warm up
