below zero temporary oil leak when starting, is this common?

When below zero F, start the engine, it sprays oil from front end until warm. 206,000 miles, has been happening last two years getting worse. I suspect shrinking gasket, or part in the cold. The colder it is the worse the leak. It will spray, but recently will puke oil out temporarily. Water pump gasket? (I hope)
