The car is maintained regularly. It has 120K miles, but otherwise in good running order. Convertible top lowered and raised frequently from April - November.

It could be the belts. In the morning when it's running and making the noise spray a little water on the belts and see if the noise goes away. If it does start with belts and while they are off inspect the tensioner and idler pulleys by spinning them and listening for noise. Replace as needed. The vehicle needs to be jacked up with the front right tire removed to replace belt. If you don't have the equipment to do it safely take it to a good shop.
Thank you for your response and helpful suggestions. Much appreciated. KP
