2004 Toyota Sienna makes a clunking sound when turning sharp. Technician claims the rack n pinion is leaking and also found a cv boot tear. Whats more likely and how quickly do either of these need to be fixed?

They both probably have occurred, and I can say that the steering gear leak will ultimately require gear replacement. The cv boot tear will require a new boot at the least, and possibly a joint or axle shaft at the worst. I'm not sure that either issue is making your clunk, too! Hard to say. My vehicle: I would service the CV boot first, unless the steering gear was leaking badly.
