Can the Power sliding door cable be removed and be operated manually?

The passenger side sliding door will not completely close without manual assistance. We turned the power door switch off and have been operating manually but has considerable resistance due to the cable turning the motor I'm assuming. How can access to the cable be gained to disconnect/remove? through the inside trim panels or can the cable be accessed from the outside?
