According to my mechanic, 4 wheel drive lever was bumped. Push into 4 WD Low and it moves! Then, go back into 4 WD Hi for regular driving. It Worked!! No expense!
This post saved our day! We have a Lexus SUV and we were at a remote beach. The dog got excited getting out of the car and bumped the 4WD stick- we think. The car wouldn't go when put in Drive and made the clunk sound going into Park. A/T P light was on. Couldn't find anything in the guide book. Then my daughter said we should Google it. Her phone didn't have service but thankfully mine did. We pushed the x/x button and moved the shift to N and it worked! Thanks to these posts!
I tried answer #2 just today - worked as suggsted - NOT a tranny problem!!!
Hey- many thanks for this post. My wife just called from the middle of the Chicago Skyway with exactly this problem with our Sequioa, following being cut off by a truck. Sure enough, her water bottle had bumped against the 4WD lever; I read her this solution and instead of a call to AAA she's on her way. Thanks again!!
Thank you very much for this post. The same happened to son on the highway. We have rebuilt the trans and warranty expired after 24 months with 30k miles over. Had the truck towed home, wasn’t planning on spending any major dollar on it with 300+ k miles. Was getting ready to get rid of it then I read your post. Worked like a champ. You are a life saver..thanks again.
