My teenage son is very interested in the number of cylinders in a Toyota RAV4 engine. It's not a deal breaker for me (I don't know much about cars), but now I'm curious to find out.

The current Toyota RAV4 does not offer a six-cylinder engine, even as an option. It currently has four cylinders only. The previous generation of RAV4s, made from 2005 to 2012, did offer a V6 engine as an option.
Interesting! I don't think this will impact my final decision, but it's always good to learn new things--especially when it comes to such a big purchase!
