What is your question?
My OBDII Scanner detected aP0335 code (crankshaft position sensor) and P0016 code (crankshaft and camshaft correlatation problem). Basically it's jumped time. Does the motor have to be removed on a 2010 Toyota RAV4 4 cylinder 2.5L to install a new timing chain kit?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Revving the engine up. Sounds like so-called "death rattle"
How long has your 2010 Toyota RAV4 had this problem?
A few days

Hi, my name is Devin. I am an auto repair expert with the Car Genius team here at RepairPal. I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble with your RAV4. The P0335 and P0016 codes, along with that rattling noise, definitely point to a timing issue but it doesn't necessarily mean it jumped time. You could have failed VVT actuators that are not allowing the vehicle to control the timing. These frequently present rattling symptoms. The good news is, no, the engine does not need to be removed to install a new timing chain kit on the 2.5L 4-cylinder in your RAV4. It’s a tight fit, but the job can be done with the engine in the vehicle. If the chain has jumped time, it’s important to inspect other engine components to ensure no further damage was caused.
