What is your question?
there's 360,000 miles on my RAV. it runs hot every so often. radiator has been replaced, temp sending unit has been replaced, themostat, radiator cap. the temp gauge moves steady up to the red zone and can just as quickly go back down to normal. then go up and down until my destination is reached. Any ideas?

I would do a manual temperature reading of the engine and see if it coincides with your gauge. I prefer a digital pyrometer for this, because you can just touch the probe to parts of the engine ( upper hose, lower hose, intake manifold etc ) and get a very accurate temperature reading and then compare it to your gauge. You can buy 1 on Ebay for about $40. If the RAV does not boil over, then it may be a gauge/instrument cluster issue, because the fact that the temp drifts up and down, is kind of similar to a malfunctioning instrument voltage regulator.
