I have been told my a/c compressor is broken. When I start the a/c or fan or heat the car dies. If I keep it off the car runs fine. How much should this cost to repair.

If operating the a/c causes the engine to stall due to a seized AC compressor the compressor will need to be replaced, the air conditioning refrigerant evacuated and store, the system flushed out, and checked for leaks and the refrigerant refilled. My labor guide says 1.5 hours to evacuate, check for leaks, and recharge after the compressor is replaced, 1.5 hour to replace the compressor and clutch assembly and the compressor is about $375 plus refrigerant and oil as required.
