What is your question?
Car stopped running shortly after that message. Car ran wonderfully up to that point. Car had every single service needed as they were required. Every Oil change and so on. All work done at the Toyota dealership where I bought the car brand new. Car has 196,000 miles and runs like a top. However when the car stopped running and I had it towed to dealership they are saying I need a whole new engine. The cost is quite high. I love this car. But I was given no warning there was in issue. Not one warning. Has anyone experienced this unexpected situation? I am nervous about there diagnosis and the cost of the repairs. Whats to say the battery"s go out after this. Then I will have a lot of money invested in a almost 7 year old vehicle with 196,000 miles on it. Should I get a second look by another mechanic. Please advise. Steve

Yes, you should get a second opinion. Not to say your dealership is steering you wrong. Trust is a vital component in an ongoing relationship with any repair facility and technician. In this case, you raise a valid concern: why no prior warnings to a sudden engine failure? "I need a whole new engine" -- what exactly did they say to explain the failure and root cause?
