Can I safely replace my stolen catalytic converter with an after-market part?

My car is a 2013 Toyota Prius Gen 3 and the catalytic converter was stolen recently and needs to be replaced in addition to the O2 sensor.
It looks like the coolant lines were not damaged and the thieves cut out the cat just above the assembly that hosts the cooling system. I was planning on replacing the cat with an after-market part but wasn't sure if there were additional connections or repairs that need to be made in regards to the cooling system. I'm also located in GA so there aren't any regulations about after-market parts. Appreciate the help.
