What is your question?
I am being quoted $1,500 by a dealer to repair a timing cover oil leak, on a 2012 Prius, with about 180,000km ( 110,000 miles). The car is 6 years old, and most things at that age seem to leak slightly from gaskets and seals. I've seen different opinions online, and a common one is "ignore it". It seems like the repair process involves work close to complete engine removal, so is mostly labour. I bought the Prius for it's reputation for low cost of ownership - this is not what I expected. Can this be left, or is this a major issue on the Prius?

If the oil is leaking significantly, then it should be resolved for a multitude of reasons. If it is not, then it can be "watched" to see if the leak worsens. Have the leak area cleaned thoroughly and drive the vehicle. Are you leaving oil drops on the ground when you park? I'm sorry you had a different expectation -- I personally do not find any vehicles that have over 100,000 miles lacking repairs due to age and wear and tear. It's doubtful that this is "abnormal" for a Prius (or any other internal combustion engine).
