how do I find a mechanic for my Prius?

Actually there is factory and Online Hybrid Certification, so I would look for those credentials. One can even get factory certified training online, so shops can be certified. I have attended Honda Hybrid classes and have studied the Toyota materials online. Hybrids are not really that complicated. If a tech really knows electrical system diagnosis, then he/she should have no problem. However, most techs in most shops can not pass the ASE A6 ( Electrical and Electronic diagnosis ) and the L1 ( Advanced engine Performance Diagnosis, which is Computer system Intensive ) I have worked on Hybrids for years and I really don't see many problems with either the Honda System or the Toyota System which are the main types of Hybrids. The main difference is that the Honda system usually has the gas powered engine on most of the time whereas the Toyota system will shut if off for hours at at time. Most Engineers see the Toyota System as a pure form of Hybrid System, but both are excellent and very reliable.
