What is your question?
I only drive about 1,500 mile a year, trips vary from 4 mile to 7 miles one way. What is the effect on the battery life. I get confusing information that it is not good for the battery, while others says mileage does not matter. Which is right? I am not interested in the miles per gallon. My thinking is that the maintenance is less for a Prius. Thinking about a 2nd generation Prius.
What makes this problem better or worse?
just need information, any 2nd generation Prius
How long has your 2004 Toyota Prius had this problem?
N/A

Hello, cars are not meant to sit for long stretches, or be driven sparingly. Battery life is definitely negatively affected when the vehicle is not driven much. It is smart regardless of vehicle to run and drive it at least weekly for a stretch of 20 minutes or so at normal operating speeds so that the engine battery can be recharged and maintained properly -- let alone any hybrid battery packs.
