What is your question?
it's got over 250,000 miles on it. I bought it from the neighbor and he said it's had a over heating problem since he got it(10 yrs). Love the guy but he's a bit lazy the truck needed work. It gets really hot during the summer, will have trouble starting(I have to rev it while I turn the keys) it will run good if I'm going but if I've been driving it, it will start to idle rough when I'm stopping(lights) and if I don't get moving quick it will shut off on me.( Happened 4 times in a row yesterday ,lights+100 outside. ) Has a hardtime staying on if I just turn it on and let sit, most likely will just go off. I've just replaced the water pump, radiator, hoses are good, just replace rottery button and distributer cap, fuel filter got replaced a couple months ago, valve cover gasket was just replaced, Spark plugs wires got replaced in 04. I've tried replacing the thermostat but it blew steam when I drove it so I put the old one in, it is a lower temp one. I'll try it again but no hope.
What makes this problem better or worse?
It's mostly fine in the winter

You can have an internal engine coolant leak with these Toyota 4 cylinder engines. After overheating occurs so many times, the gasket or even cylinder head may breach. This is worth checking out. But I wouldn't rush to judgement on that. A good cooling system requires proper cooling fan operation, no radiator restrictions or debris, no air pockets in the cooling system, adequate coolant flow, and a thermostat that opens at the correct time. If there is no internal engine coolant leak, then ensuring all those other items are properly functioning should prevent overheating from occurring. Sounds like years of neglect with this truck, so it's anyone's guess what is really going on -- testing is needed.
