I just replaced the head gasket and now it's blowing blue smoke from the tailpipe

Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern with your vehicle. A blown head gasket or recent head gasket replacement can cause blue smoke from the exhaust if engine oil is somehow leaking past it into the cylinders as this would cause the ignited fuel in the cylinders to burn off the oil which in turn will create the blue smoke. If this only occurred after the head gasket was replaced and if you have run it enough to burn off any residual oil that may have been in the cylinders during head gasket replacement and the issue is still occurring there is a good chance the head gasket is leaking, the cylinder head is slightly warped, or other mechanical concerns causing this issue. The best thing to do is to have it inspected to identify the cause so it can then be repaired properly from there.
