What is your question?
I would like advice on camping in my 2010 Matrix (basic model). I have a 3-sided tent set-up that attaches to the rear end of the car, hatchback up, extending the rear cargo space into a sweet little camping room. No bugs, fresh air, yay!. If I want to sleep in the cargo space (rear seats down flat) and keep the hatchback open all night, how can I prevent draining my battery? Also, if it's raining or chilly and I want to sleep with the hatchback down, is there a way to open the hatch from inside? I realize I could climb into the front driver's seat and open/unlock everything, but my lazy self has to ask this question. Thanks a bunch for any help you can give me on this! -Mary in Vermont
What makes this problem better or worse?
No problems, just seeking advice on preserving my battery.

The battery would only drain if a light was active. If you are able to turn off the inside lights of the vehicle with the lift gate open, then this concern should be resolved. As far as opening the hatch from the inside, I would think there is an emergency release from the inside, but I'm not sure what that is. Perhaps check the owner's manual for this information? You should be able to perform a web search for an owner's manual if you don't have one. Good luck!
