What is your question?
I have a highlander hybrid (2012) - and I have a squeaky noise when I depress the brake - when the car is OFF- prior to hitting the start button (on cold start). It's as if the mechanical pieces working the physical brakes need WD40. It also can be heard when driving periodically but it's not consistent. 2 dealers said 2 diff things. The latest is the ABS pump is failing. But, I have no issues with the brakes, the brake peddle, the warning lights on the dash are not on, and the braking performance is fine. The pump isn't running after the car is off - at least you can't hear anything - and my battery seems fine - so I know it's not getting drained. One suggested just flushing the break fluid might fix it. I am having a hard time believing the ABS pump is bad. Its a $1750 repair, and it seems like grease or an adjustment is needed. thoughts??
How long has your 2012 Toyota Highlander had this problem?
couple of months

If the brakes need to be lubricated then start there. I'd also do the brake flush if it's been over 3 years. Have them power bleed it and activate the ABS pump at the same time in case there is a valve sticking internally. Alex
Still have the noise. The guys tried just about everything they could think of. The lubed everything, did the brake flush and tried the ABS cleaning...they also didn't think it was the ABS. They felt it might be a seal or gasket that is rubbing when I depress the brake - as they felt it was closer to the driver side and not the passengers - where the ABS is located. So, still have it and it's getting more frequent and more noticeable. Any other thoughts? They recommended to not do anything if it was just a rubbing gasket - the labor alone wouldn't be worth it.
