Where is the fan motor resistor located on a 2004 Toyota Highlander ?

The fan motor was making a grinding noise so I replaced it myself. The fan speed works only intermittently however. I tyhough maybe the resistor needs to be replaced.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Playing with the volume control or pushing the A/C or Heat button seem to help it work
