I got a P0171 code on my 2020 corolla

This means the fuel mixture has been detected to be "lean" - meaning most likely that there is too much air getting into the engine without the engine being able to provide enough fuel to make the mixture proper. When this happens, the engine sends more and more fuel to the engine, and the lean condition never resolves -- meanwhile, your engine is swimming in too much fuel, causing other problems. Check for an un-metered air leak to the engine, a vacuum hose leak or even an intake gasket leak. Since you have a 2020 vehicle, without knowing the mileage -- you may still be under factory or emissions warranty - best to see your local dealership if so.
