What is your question?
* Hey I just bought a used 2014 Toyota Corolla s with only 118,000 miles from a private party and well maintained. However, when I first start the car after it’s been sitting for a bit you can hear this weird scratching sound as it’s warming up and then after about 30 seconds it goes away. While it’s doing the scratching sounds, if you try to initiate reverse or drive, it doesn’t go, but once it’s “warmed” it’s good to go. I have a video of the engine with the sound.

Thank you for reaching out to Car Genius. It sounds like a transmission concern of some kind. Please if you can email the video to akoehler@repairpal.com. If the transmission fluid is incorrect or the wrong level it can cause these issues. I would have a transmission shop near you check it out to be sure. Here is a list of those repair shops near you. https://repairpal.com/toyota-repair-in-herriman-utah-84096?vehicleId=4581&repairId=13 Thanks again for reaching out to Car Genius. -Austin
