My 2011 Corolla is making a whining noise, not loud and alarming.

Noises are impossible to figure out in this forum, because someone needs to hear it! There needs to be some physical context and a sense of direction to look for the noise, and then troubleshooting to see what it is consistent with -- engine speed, vehicle speed, electronic noise...too hard to now.
