What is your question?
I was driving and all of a sudden car filled with smoke, engine shut off, I put it in neutral to try and restart it, wouldn't turn over sounded like it wanted to. I tried to start it one more time since I was told the timing chain might need to be replaced. Can anybody let me know what happens when the timing chain needs to be replaced. Or could I have a couple other ideas to think over.

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. A timing chain breaking would be extremely unusual. It is not a belt, but a metal chain, and there is not reason to expect this part would fracture. As far as the car filling with smoke, there are other serious possible issues in play, but everything requires hands on inspection to evaluate and determine what has happened. I would recommend a shop near you evaluate the vehicle and find out what is happening. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link or call us at 877-913-1554.
