my dash and tail-lights are out

pulled out of my driveway and proceeded down the street. the dash and the lights behind the AC controls started to flicker. at the same time i heard a noise like 2 wires touching. after 3minutes or so they went out. i checked the fuse labled tail and it was fine. what else could it be? and how do i fix it? thank you
