What is your question?
2005 Toyota Corolla, automatic transmission, 173k miles, In good working order except for this one issue. Only at speeds of 45-65 mph there is an intermittent vibration felt from the front/bottom of car (transmission). If you take the foot off the gas, the vibration will go away and stay away as long as your foot is off the gas. Once you accelerate again, the vibration comes back not always immediately but sometimes. If I accelerate hard enough it will shift abruptly into the next gear and it will be fine. It is only in that one speed/gear range. This is usually when Check engine light comes on. OBD-II sensor reads as P0741 error: Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off. Any tips on what I should do? I have a few ideas on where to start but if any of y'all have any insight into this I'd like to hear it! Trying to do everything DIY to learn and save money but a mechanic is not out of the question if I'll just F it up beyond repair lol. Thanks, Alex

Hello, it's a great example of a torque converter clutch issue -- the judder you feel is the clutch engagement and slippage. You can try to replace the fluid - multiple drain and fills, or a "flush" if you can find a shop with a machine that will work for your car. But ultimately, it's quite likely that this component is worn out and needs to be replaced, and along with it most likely the transmission based on age and mileage. I have the same code. Only triggered by going up a fairly steep 20° incline(prairies so it's not a long incline) at highway speeds long enough that the cruise control would kick it into the highest gear on my old Pontiac Bonneville and still drop 10kph before the top .. maybe 200-300meters or 5- 6 lamp posts in distance In town I can't get it to trigger even at a 30°incline going nearly 70kph(45mph is 72k). OR a 10°incline at 100kph Transmission has been pulled apart, drained properly, solenoid replaced and because THEY couldn't get it to trigger again in town it was called fixed ...... Fluid looks good still looks good. Been nearly 30 000k since and I'm having issues again and we'll.... The code would clear itself and then appear again over the years. I've ignored it till now but I've been having some issues with the car dying when it's cold out and I put it from drive into reverse. What do I tell my mechanic after he referred me back to the transmission place and repair pal said it can also be the Coolant temperature sensor... Or valve body.... The transmission shop explained what the solenoid did but boy did they fail to explain what the code was triggered by🙈🙈. I'd have pushed more had I known more. HELP!
