Sounds like the rear pads have worn down to metal to metal contact, thats where the scraping noise is coming from, the brake pad has a friction material bonded or riveted to a backing plate and when you push on the petal it slows down your car by friction and when the brake pad wears down too far the metal backing plate hits the brake rotor, did you have front and rear brakes replaced in 2007? brakes wear faster if driving up and down hilly areas I usually change mine every 35 to 40 thousand miles so I don't need to replace rotors. Try Napa brand brake pads they seem to last longer.
