What is your question?
I was charged 255 dollars to replace 2 rear brake cylinders. Is this cost outrageous?

Not necessarily. Usually when the rear brake cylinders fail, brake fluid leaks out of them (if they weren't leaking, why sould someone replace them??) gets on the brake shoes and those are replaced at the time. To do that properly, the brake drums need to be machined, all adding to the cost. Then there could be wheel bearing issues to deal with. If nothing else at all was done besides replacing the rear cylinders, then the cost seems high, maybe, but I don't see the job going like that.
You could have done it yourself for about 20 dollars and a pc of sandpaper.
Unfortunately the brake cylinders were replaced and the drums were not machined. I saw him working on other vehicles at the same time as mine and charged me 3 hours labor. I believe he should of bled the brakes properly and this was not done either. This individual who did the work gives your profession a bad name. Fortunately there are those who do not steal from the hand that feeds them. Thank you for your timely response. Tom Quesada Tom Quesada
