Certainly sounds a bit pricey to me.

This is about a 4 hour job. The dealer in your area should be around $100 an hour, less for an independent. Parts $200 at most, if all they are replacing is the water pump, engine coolant, timing belt and maybe the tensioner. Shop around, I bet you'll find a better place, although you will need to tow it. Did the timing belt break?
