What is your question?
It could very well be that it is just an old car showing it’s age, but my 1993 Toyota Corolla has been making more grinding noises when I press on the gas on occasion and not on other times. I work a 9-5 with little PTO and as a result I’m never able to really get a mechanic to diagnose the issue. It’s been like this for a while and lately has started sounding worse during start-up. A slight grinding sound can be heard when the car turns on as well as what I think is a swooshing/chirping sound. After letting the car sit for a few minutes and finally moving it to get to work my car will make a grinding noise on the first press and then get quiet and back to normal as I let it roll and ease the acceleration. The proneness to grinding starts upon startup every time now and I do also notice that the car doesn’t make as much noise when the AC is off. It’s been a hot summer and I have been using the AC while driving a lot as well.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Keeping the AC off makes it better. Turning it on makes the grinding sound more likely.
How long has your 1993 Toyota Corolla had this problem?
A few months.
