What is your question?
My radiator and thermostat went out, and I had both replaced. After picking my car up, it kept throwing a cylinder code, VSC and check engine light came on. I took it back and they said the head gasket was also blown with further damage was caused when the initial radiator failed. They recommend an engine swap. Is this the best route? Are engine swaps reliable?

Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. It is not surprising that a severe overheating situation would cause engine damage. However, I would recommend a second opinion, as often times simply replacing the cylinder head gasket is a reasonable repair for a more reasonable price. An engine swap would be more sensible if you have more than 150,000 miles on your current engine and / or there is a suspicion of further damage. A second opinion is the best idea.
