What is your question?
I was getting a new battery so decided to just change the spark plugs to be proactive. I got the exact spark plugs for my car but now the engine is all shaky and it's idling rough running rough. Any suggestions?
How long has your 2006 Toyota Camry had this problem?
More than a week

Hi, I'm one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Sorry to hear you are having issues with your Camry. Rough idle and shaking after a spark plug change could be caused by a few different things. A plug that isn't fully seated or torqued, a damaged ignition coil boot, cracked porcelain on one of the new plugs, or possibly an incorrect plug gap, are all possible causes. It's worth double checking that all plugs were installed correctly, fully tightened, and that all ignition coil connectors were firmly reattached. Sometimes a connector gets bumped loose during the job. Also verify that the replacement plugs are the exact correct part number for your specific engine, as even small variations in heat range, gap, or even brand can cause rough running. Since rough running can potentially cause damage over time (like catalytic converter damage from misfires), you’ll definitely want to avoid driving it till you get this resolved. If you don’t see anything obvious on re-inspection, it may not be a bad idea to have a shop inspect the work. They can also check for any trouble codes, and give you peace of mind that your Camry is running the way it should!
