If the check engine light goes off, does that mean the problem if fixed?

My check engine light came on about 1 month ago. I took it to the Toyota Dealer and the diagnostic test came back reading that the catalytic converter needs to be replaced. I read an article saying to change the gas cap or change fuel type(which I did) and the light went off!! Does that mean the problem is fixed?????????????
