How to check differential, transaxle and transmission fluids?

What is your question?

I see in the manual that one should check the differential fluid on occasion. Is the transaxle and the differential the same? Is the transmission and transaxle the same? If the transaxle and the differential are different from the transmission-How do I check the oil in each?
