how often does timing belt need replacement?

depends on the manufacturer most are 90-110,000. have seen some that you must check @ 60,000 intervals .not something you want to break on a trip. especially if you have an interference engine.

a 2.4 engine is a diesel. That engine requires replacement every 100,000 miles. If you have a 2.2 gas engine they sould be replaced every 90,000 miles or 72 months. Hope this helps!

I would change timing belt asap!!!!!

The 2.4L 4 cylinder Camry from 2002 does not use a timing belt, but a timing chain. (The 6 cylinder has a belt.) Unlike belts that need to be changed on Toyota's at 90K miles, the chain may just need occasional adjustment. (BTW, there is no diesel option in a 2002 Camry, as another person mentioned.)

The 2002 Camry DOES NOT have a timing belt!!!! It has a timing CHAIN and unless car was wrecked you won't need to replace it. One thing Toyota did right.
