Headlights don't work

I have a 2000 Toyota Camry Le no DRL and my headlights don't work. I replaced the Relay and they started working but only when I held the dimmer switch back on high beams if I let it go they would go off. They worked like this for 2hrs and then they stopped working completely. Can u please help me ?
