is it popssible for the oil pump to leak oil ?

i have never replaced one for that reason. if the 2 mating surfaces warp, then yes but very unlikely. Roy

There is a seal on the oil pump where it seals to the spinning crankshaft. This seal can wear out and leak, especcily since its pressurized oil. So yes they can leak.
