engine light just came on ?? runs fine, just went over 160K

Transmission "bumps" softly at times when accelerating, though I am never hard on the vehicle, feather the pedal always. Had new timing belt and tensioners 3 months ago,now "check engine light" just came on? Manual recommends take to dealer, can any mechanic/shop do the diagnostics? sjpalive@yahoo.com
