When I put the key into the ignition it recognizes that the key is in by playing a sound, but once I put the key into acc or start nothing happens as if I did not turn the key

Do the dash warning lights come on? If not try jump starting the car or see if the battery voltage at rest is approximately 12.6 volts. The electrical portion of the ignition switch do not give as much problems as other car makes. The starter solenoid does fail (it has replacement contacts and plunger) but normally you at least will hear a click when you turn the key to the key to the starter position.
Let me just tell you what I did, It was having some problems with the alternator, just yesterday it gave out so today I replaced it. I disconnected the batt and removed everything but what I did notice was the alternator gave a small spark when I pulled it out. After replacing it the batt was dead so I hooked up a jumpstart pack and gave it a go, but the dash lights wouldn't come on. but it does click and have tension like the switch is working correctly. Oh and as far as the starter it has been working perfectly, even last night. Just fixed the problem, ended up being the ALT fuse (100A) it ended up being fried. I wasn't able to see it since its bolted in for some odd reason. Once replaced everything worked as it was supposed to.
